Welcome to the summer! Our Scouting year is in full swing and summer is upon us. Cub Scout Day Camp and summer resident camps are perfect opportunities
for making those lifetime memories. More of our Scouts and units are attending Broad Creek Memorial Scout Reservation this summer, following excellent
reports from campers last year.
If you haven’t been to Broad Creek for a while, why not take a day trip to see camp in action! Contact our Senior District Executive Brendan Canale to schedule
a personal tour.
We recently held our annual district elections and would like to welcome our new committee members. We will be looking to get all of our committee members
involved on a personal basis to best utilize their skills and interests.
Membership and Family Friends of Scouting campaigns continue toward our goals. Both areas are critical components of ensuring a healthy and fun Scouting
program for the district and the council. We are doing well, but still need more Scouts and support. If you missed your unit’s Family Friends of Scouting
presentation, you can still participate by going to our council website: http://www.baltimorebsa.org/fos .
Finally, if you have any suggestions for how the district can better serve your needs, please reach out to me or any of our Key 3 leadership directly.
Have a great summer and make some memories!
DISTRICT FELLOWSHIP DINNER
On Tuesday, June 7th, the National Pike District held its annual Fellowship Dinner hosted by the Advancement and Recognition Committee.
This event is a great time to extend our thanks to all of the families and volunteers who make Scouting happen in Howard County. The district had the
opportunity to recognize seven individuals with the Spark Plug Award as well as Bill McGuire for Outstanding Service to Youth as he prepares for a big move.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of National Pike District’s four District Award of Merits for 2016: Ted Doederlein, Kevin Miller, Carol Shuster
and Howard Weiss. Congratulations to all honored at this event, and Thank You for all you do for Boy Scouts and the National Pike District.
